Tiruchengode is thirty kilometres from our base and manufactures something almost nowhere else does at this scale: borewell drilling rigs. The town is said to hold the largest concentration of rig builders anywhere, and that single trade shapes its electrical demand, its building stock and the questions people here ask about solar.
Yield figures are regional averages from published irradiance data, quoted as indicative ranges. What a particular roof produces depends on its orientation, shading and the equipment specified — which is what the site survey establishes.
Rig fabrication means heavy welding, plasma and gas cutting, machining and paint work, all concentrated in workshops along the approach roads. The load is spiky rather than smooth — welding sets draw hard and intermittently — which matters for sizing, because a system sized to peak draw would be badly oversized for average consumption. The right approach is to size against daytime energy rather than peak demand. The town also has a handloom and textile presence, and the surrounding blocks run heavily on agricultural pumping, which is the other half of a rig-building town's relationship with water.
Fabrication workshops here are generally tall-bay sheet roofs built to clear a rig under assembly, which gives good unshaded area and easy orientation. The complication is what happens underneath: welding fume and grinding dust rise and settle on the array, and cutting operations throw sparks that argue for keeping panels clear of specific bays. Rooftop plant and extraction ducting often occupies the best-oriented section. Housing in the town is mostly flat RCC with the usual tank and stairhead obstructions.
At Tiruchengode’s average yield, a 3 kW rooftop system — the size the PM Surya Ghar subsidy caps at — generates roughly 12.9 units on an average day and about 4,710 units a year. Residential rooftops of 3 kW and above qualify for the central subsidy of up to ₹78,000, subject to eligibility under the scheme, and Tamil Nadu announced a further top-up in September 2026 — our solar subsidy guide sets out what each one pays and how firm the state figure is.
Net metering is handled through Tiruchengode section, Namakkal circle. We prepare and file that application as part of the installation; sanction typically takes 60 to 120 days from submission. Our net metering guide explains which arrangement you would be on and why it decides the size worth installing.
Against daytime energy consumption, not peak draw. Sizing to the peak a bank of welding sets can pull would give you a system far larger than your actual units consumed, which would then export at the low rate. We work from your bills and your shift pattern instead.
It settles on the glass and reduces generation, more so than ordinary dust. The answer is layout — keeping the array away from extraction outlets and the heaviest cutting bays — plus a cleaning interval set to what the workshop actually produces rather than a generic schedule.
For response time, yes. Tiruchengode is among the quickest sites for us to reach, so surveys happen fast and service calls do not wait on a travel window. The work itself is no different from anywhere else.
VENAARC installs across Tiruchengode, Namakkal district from our base in Sankagiri. Listing an area means we travel there and work there — it is not a claim that a plant has been built in every town named on this site.
The survey is free and there is no quote until someone has seen the roof. Call +91 7871631474 or send the details and we will come out to you.
